How the Colorado estimate works

Enter gross pay for one pay period, federal W-4 adjustments, and the state details shown above. Federal withholding follows Publication 15-T. Colorado DR 1098 annualizes current wages, subtracts either the W-4-based default allowance or an explicitly entered DR 0004 Line 2 allowance, applies 4.40%, and returns the amount to the selected pay period. The 2026 FAMLI employee share is 0.44% up to the Social Security wage base. Supported employee OPT is included only after the work city and monthly wage facts are confirmed.

Example: If no DR 0004 is on file, a single employee uses the $5,500 DR 1098 allowance. Denver, Glendale, Greenwood Village, and Sheridan each have a separate monthly employee OPT rule and threshold. The calculator does not assume any unentered benefit deduction or invent a tax result.

Weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, and monthly are the supported paycheck frequencies. “Annual salary” is an earnings input and the annual view is a simple period multiplication; neither is an annual payroll-period method. The special Form W-4 adjustment for nonresident aliens is not modeled.

Which Colorado local payroll taxes are included? WageFrame supports employee occupational privilege tax for work performed in Denver, Glendale, Greenwood Village, and Sheridan. An unresolved work city produces a partial estimate rather than assuming local withholding is zero.
